Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with Christina Milne Wilson on the sudden passing of her brother Bill Bell, Clan Macdonald Yarraville historian.
It is with deep regret that we recognise the passing of William (Bill) Graham.
Bill was very active in the Scottish community
He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed.
Our deepest sympathy to Ina and family.
“An honest man here lies at rest
As e'er God with his image blest.
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of Age, and guide of Youth:
Few hearts like his with virtue warm'd,
Few heads with knowledge so inform'd:
If there's another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.” - Robert Burns
During the past month we have had to say farewell to Alister MacLeod,
- Robert Burns
It is with much sadness I advise that Alister Macleod passed away last Monday (15th June). Alister will be remembered with deep affection by many in the Scottish community.
Alister was a very active member of the Victorian Scottish community.
· Member of Clan Macleod
· Past President and Chief of the Victorian Scottish Union
· Past Chairman of Scots of Victoria Coordinating group
· Past President of the Robert Burns Club of Melbourne
· Past President and inaugural member of the Robert Burns Association of the Pacific Rim.
He will be sadly missed.
"If there is another world, he lives in bliss.
If there is none, he made the best of this".
During the month of June we also had to bid a sad farewell to Marcus de Rijk
As a group Glenbrae members were incredibly saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of our friend Marcus de Rijk. Marcus has been a long time supporter of Glenbrae - our first meeting being when he and Eddie Lewis started out their performing days as Braemar. After Braemar stopped performing together, we were fortunate to continue our association with Marc via his band Taliska, which he shared with his wife Claire. Our members were also privileged to travel to China in 2016 with Marc as part of the Rats of Tobruk tour. Marc was a great help in rehearsing the drum salute for us so that we always knew what was going on. Marc was a gentle and kind man and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Marc was due to welcome his first child in approximately 6 weeks. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to Claire and his family.
